correctly San Salvador de Jujuy, this
is capital of
the Province of Jujuy, northern-most
province of the region and gateway to Chile or Bolivia and Peru. A
minimum of 2 nights in the area is recommended.

Usually
the visit to Jujuy is made from Salta, but also possible to go from
Jujuy to Salta through the Camino de Conisa (Mountain Road), surrounded
by splendid subtropical vegetation.
Humahuaca
gorge can be visited also from Jujuy.
An
Inca official is supposed to have lived here. This city 1,260m above
sea level and 1,660 km from Buenos Aires. It is on the northern extreme
of a large valley and at the foot of the Sierra de Zapla. At present,
the city is crossed by two rivers, the Xibi and the Grande rivers,
and it is built on an uneven terrain and linked to its surroundings
by ten bridges. It has very few colonial buildings.
