Mendoza and surroundings

Located in the west of the country, this region occupies a vast strip at the foot of the Andes Range. From its heights flow the rivers San Juan, Mendoza and Tunuyán which have transformed the area into an oasis where the vineyard is the protagonist. The green cities of Cuyo are surrounded by the charming waters of its irrigation channels. The name “Cuyo” is due to its arid irregular land that lies next to the highest mountains. Nowadays, Cuyo is also “the land of the sun and the good wine”. more...

Aconcagua
Rises up to 6,959m. It is one of the most important mountains in the world and the highest one in the Western Hemisphere. It is a mythical mountain for climbers all around the world.

Climate
This is a high-pressure and equatorial calm zone where there is little air circulation. In the plains clouds and rains are hardly seen. Only in the mountains are there rains, mostly in winter and snowstorms.

During the day, high temperatures makes air mass rise from the valleys and mountains slopes while pressure in the top goes down, forming scenic white cumulus. At night the opposite happens: temperatures fall and the air in the altitudes increase its density making winds descend to the valleys. This characteristic does not apply at high altitudes. From 1,700 meters up, the daily thermal range abruptly increases making night very cold.

Vineyards
Numerous vineyards, processing plants and oil fields are characteristic of this region, surrounded by many crystal-clear rivers bordered by lush vegetation. Viticulture is more than just an economic activity in this region. It is deeply-rooted in its history; it means tradition and internationally renowned wines. The Vintage is the biggest popular festival of Mendoza. It consists of a series of cultural and artistic activities. During the Vintage, the province lights up and celebrates the end of a working year in the vineyards.

Visiting
Mendoza is the main entrance for this region. This is a modern city with tree-lined streets and bordered by the typical channels, squares, and parks. We recommend 2-3 nights as a minimum stay. There are hotels from 5* to tourist class.
