Description
In the northwest of the Patagonia area, the provinces of Neuquen, Rio Negro and Chubut share this vast extension of virgin forests surrounded by innumerable lakes. Here, nature offers a different scenery each season of the year: in winter snowed hills make skiing a local passion; in summer there is exuberant flora; and in autumn the forests are covered with leaves of different shades of ochre, yellow and red. Nahuel Huapi National Park
The most important national park of Argentina. A huge place with areas of luxuriant beauty. Various mountains are notable for their height. The highest is the Tronador, so called because of the noise made by the falling blocks of ice. Rivers and lakes cross the park from several basins. The largest is the Nahuel Huapi lake with 7 inlets and 12 ports. On the southern coast of this lake is San Carlos de Bariloche, the gateway to the Patagonian Andes and base for exploring this National Park. more...

Lanin National Park

Los Alerces National Park
A system of lakes linked by rivers that form dangerous rapids gives this park a particular physiognomy. The centre of this system is Futalaufquen Lake; towards the north of Esquel there are a number of other lakes such as Cisne, Menendez, Rivadavia, Verde, Kuger & Stange, Cholila and Puelo. The name of this National Park originated in the “Fitzroya Cupressoides”, tree of a 2.5-metre diameter and about 3,000 years of age. more...
