An Addition to the Addiction

I recently purchased a new compound bow, the Mathews Jewel, and it was like Christmas in June for me!! With some hunting travels coming up this fall I wanted to make sure I had a ‘back-up’ bow (although this one might become my primary!). I would hate to travel somewhere for a hunt out of state and have something tragic happen to my one and only bow and my hunt would be ruined.

I was thrilled to finally purchase a bow made for women because when I purchased my Mathews DXT 5 or 6 years ago there were very few bows designed with women in mind. It means a lot to see the industry adapting to the women archers and hunters out there and include features like the reverse assist roller guard, shorter axel to axel measurements, and shorter draw lengths and brace heights, as well as smaller grips. It’s also great to see a variety of colors in the bows now as well as unique feminine touches to make the bow as personalized as the girl itself.

For the first time I felt like a product was made specifically for me and my wants and needs and I am thankful to see these changes occurring for the women in the outdoors. Women are gradually having an impact on every aspect of the industry and there are numerous bows out there now specifically tailored to the female hunter or archer; sometimes it takes a little bit more researching but for the most part when I do find something ‘made for the ladies’ it usually meets and exceeds my expectations.

I am beyond excited to have purchased a new bow and get acquainted with it; adding to the addiction I already have means more when it’s something that is made for you and means a lot to you. There is much more behind the story of the new Jewel, how an awesome twitter follower helped out, and how the purchase nearly brought tears to my eyes. My upcoming blog will detail the bittersweet and overwhelming emotions that followed this amazing journey of a new bow…

🙂 Congratulations on “Jewel”! This purchase is very well deserved! I’m happy to hear so many positive things about this bow. You’re right, the industry has finally included women as fellow hunters. I am so happy that I don’t have to go shopping in the boys section to find hunting clothes.
