Andrea’s Hunting Story

I grew up in a hunting family, but my recent love for bow hunting comes from my husband. It’s something we do together that doesn’t involve the internet, our cell phones, or the craziness of everyday life. I can leave the world behind and just focus on the task at hand. Hunting has taught me patience, given me strengths that I never knew I had, and made me respect the land and the animals in it. I love hunting for making me more confident. I’ve learned to be proud of myself as this is something I never knew I could do. It’s helped my marriage by giving us a hobby that we enjoy doing together and give us something to look forward to every year.
I love nothing more than sitting in the woods, being absolutely quiet, waiting for the sun to come up with the one that I love. I’ve seen things that I’ve never seen before just by simply listening, watching and being aware. I can look at my husband and communicate without talking. We are so in-tune when we’re hunting that a head nod or a smile means so much. Those are the moments that I cherish the most.
Most people miss out on so many things in life because they’re too busy to put down the electronics. I can only hope that we pass this along this passion, and these lessons to our daughter so that she enjoys it as much as we do.
